Situated amongst the trees, the home is a tropical refuge in a sleepy corner of the Big Island. Prioritizing openness and continuity, each person in the home feels connected through the full length covered porch and lofted living area.
A simple material palette was used to highlight the natural beauty of the site. Reclaimed wood siding and shou sugi ban treated beams make up the bulk of the façade. The roof is tilted, allowing residents to enjoy the beautiful landscape while still shading the living areas. This combination makes the home a very comfortable place to be.
